Eye Disorders and Medications of the Adult Client
成人眼疾及用药
Eyes are highly sensitive and subject to various disorders. Impaired vision may affect a person’s independence in self-care, work and lifestyle choices, sense of self-esteem, safety, ability to interact with society and the environment, and overall quality of life. Many of the leading causes of visual impairment are associated with aging, such as macular degeneration. You should take them into consideration both in practice and examination.
Review of eye disorders and medications focus on safety and nursing interventions for clients with impairment of sight and on the nursing care related to disorders such as cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal detachment. Communicating with clients who are visually impaired is also a priority. Emergency interventions for eye and ear disorders and injuries are a priority point. Review also focuses on client instructions related to medication administration, sensory perceptual alterations and safety issues, and available support systems.
As usual, our tips will be presented in 4 aspects:
1. Anatomy and physiology of the eye
2. Assessment of eye disorders
3. Common eye disorders
4. Ophthalmologic medications
