Respiratory disorders are among the most common causes of illness and hospitalization in children. Respiratory dysfunction in children tends to be exacerbated more easily because the lumens of a child’s respiratory tract are smaller and therefore more likely to become obstructed. Besides, respiratory disorders in children are more difficult for parents to evaluate and provide care, more nursing supports and instructions are needed. These are the characteristics of the respiratory disorders in children and the points we should bear in mind that are quite different from that of the disorders we discussed previously.
As usual, we’ll discuss this topic in three aspects:
1. Assessment of respiratory disorders in children
2. Therapeutic techniques used in management of respiratory disorders in children, and
3. Respiratory disorders in children.
